Holly Micklem Goalkeeping Clinic Tuesday 3rd June | 5:45pm – 7:15pm | St. Raphaela's Open to GKs 6th Class-4th Year A rare opportunity to be coached by a goalkeeper competing at the very top of the Irish game. Holly Micklem is a Senior Ireland Women's international goalkeeper, selected for the Irish squad for the EuroHockey Championships - one of the most competitive tournaments in European hockey - where Ireland faced off against world-ranked sides including the Netherlands and Germany. She has also been named in the Irish squad for international series against the USA and is a regular fixture in the national setup. In this session, Holly will coach the core technical skills every goalkeeper needs to perform under pressure: Stance & ready position: weight forward on the balls of your feet, hands up, so you can move explosively in any direction Kick saves: using the leg guards to clear low shots to either side, staying square and keeping the ball in front Hand & glove saves: positioning the kicker and hand protector to deal with shots at height, cushioning rather than deflecting into danger Block sliding: going to ground to cut off a 1v1 or close-range shot, leading with the correct leg and staying side-on to cover the post Diving saves: extending across goal for wide shots, pushing off the correct foot and landing safely on the leg guard Penalty corner defence: reading the drag flick, setting your starting position, and reacting to the first shot and the rebound 📅 Tuesday, 3rd June 🕔 5:45pm – 7:15pm 📍 St. Raphaela's ⚠️ Spaces are limited - don't miss out.
